Knotty Alder Trusses and Custom Chandeliers

This is by far the most challenging and most rewarding project we have done so far.

Our client approached us with the simple idea of creating fake beams that simply ran up the vaulted ceiling. However, with the size of the space it wouldn’t have been enough.

We came up with the idea of making full sized, fake trusses in order really bring warmth and coziness to such a large room. We finished the trusses with a matte clear coat as to not feel like it was new.

After completion the space still felt like it lacked something. The home owner began looking for chandeliers and hanging lights but she couldn’t find anything that suited the space. Danny Moulder came up with a simple, wagon-wheel chandelier design. He purposely used cracked alder and filled the voids with black resin and used a high gloss finish to catch the eye.

This space is going to be a conversation piece for many years to come.
